The Suffolk University Softball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader past the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon. Suffolk put together a 14-hit attack in game one to take an 11-7 victory before wrapping up game two with a 4-2 victory.
Sophomore Kristen Young (Windsor, Conn.) was 3-for-5 with four runs score, while senior Nicole Rosa (Wallingford, Conn.) drove in three runs with a 2-for-3 effort. Freshman Delaney Sylvester (Worcester, Mass.) was 3-for-4 with two RBI and fellow classmate Morgan Parmeter (Maynard, Mass.) connected on her first home run of the season.
Freshman Ali Yamakaitis (Avenel, N.J.) pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief on the mound while striking out four to earn her fourth victory of the year.
Parmeter drove in two runs in a three run second inning in game two as Suffolk took game two 4-2. Freshman Devlin Frost (Tewksbury, Mass.) added an RBI triple later in the inning as Suffolk took a 3-1 lead.
Freshman Kathleen Slavin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) struck out eight hitters in the complete game effort to move to 6-1 on the season.
The wins extend Suffolk's winning streak to 10 games. They move to a 17-5 overall record on the year and league best 11-1 mark.
They will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Simmons College in GNAC action.
