Desai, Frost Earn ECAC Weekly Honors for April 7

A pair of Suffolk University spring student-athletes earned recognition by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Tuesday April 7. Senior Josh Desai (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was named ECAC New England Division-III Baseball Pitcher of the Week, while freshman Devlin Frost (Tewksbury, Mass.) was named ECAC Softball Rookie of the Week.

Desai was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week on Monday April 6.

Desai pitched a complete game shutout over Anna Maria College on Thursday afternoon, a 9-0 Suffolk victory. The senior southpaw allowed just two hits in the win while striking out nine hitters. Desai allowed an infield single in the first inning and a base hit in the seventh as he finished the game just two hitters over the minimum. Anna Maria did not have a baserunner reach past second base in the game.

The win was Desai's second of the season. He is tied for third among GNAC pitchers with 27 strikeouts on the season. He is currently 2-2 on the year with a 4.91 era in 22 innings pitched.

Suffolk is currently 6-10 on the season and 2-0 in GNAC play. They face a full slate of games this week. They will travel to Bridgewater State University on Tuesday for a non-league game before four GNAC doubleheaders in five days beginning with Lasell College on Wednesday.

Frost was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday April 6.

Frost finished the week hitting at a .556 clip as she was 10-for-18 in six games. Frost hit a pair of home runs on Thursday as Suffolk swept Rivier University. In Wednesday's doubleheader sweep she was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 13-5 game one Suffolk victory.

Frost finished Thursday's doubleheader going 5-for-7 with six RBI in the two games combined. She was 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and three RBI in game two.

Frost rounded out the week with a 3-for-5 effort in Saturday's sweep over Lasell College. Frost also drove in three runs as Suffolk swept the Lasers.

Suffolk currently stands at a 15-5 record following a non-league sweep over Salem State on Monday. They currently stand atop the GNAC standing with a 9-1 record in league play. Suffolk will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Johnson & Wales University at 3:00pm in East Boston.
