Jaclyn Davis Named Head Softball Coach/Associate Director of Athletics

The Suffolk University Athletics Department named Jaclyn Davis as Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women's Administrator and Head Coach of the Women's Softball team for the upcoming 2013 season.

Davis served as Head Women's Softball Coach at Austin College in Sherman, Texas for the 2012 season. Davis guided the Kangaroos to a third-place finish in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the highest standing in program history, while advancing to the SCAC Tournament for just their second time.

Davis returns to Beacon Hill where she spent two seasons as an Assistant Softball Coach for the Rams during the 2008-09 seasons. Davis went on to coach as an assistant at Rutgers University in New Jersey for two seasons prior to taking over for Austin College last season.

Suffolk University Director of Athletics, James Nelson made the announcement official on Wednesday. "We at the Suffolk University Athletic Department are wonderfully pleased to welcome Jaclyn Davis on a full time basis back to Suffolk University. Our intensive search process has revealed that Jackie possesses those qualities of leadership, professionalism, character and instructional skills that all of our student athletes will benefit greatly in the years to come. Jackie's familiarity and love of Boston from her previous graduate student years and employment in our city will further enhance her transition and outreach both internal and external to our Beacon Hill campus".

Davis graduated from Post University in 2007 with a B.A. in Psychology. She earned her M.Ed from Boston University in 2008 with a focus in Sports Psychology and later earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from BU in Coach Education-Exercise Science.

Davis was a four-year player at Post University where she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) honors as an All-American Scholar Athlete in all four seasons.She was named Post University's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2007, while also earning the Excellence in Physcology Award by the University while graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. She was inducted into the Alpha Chi National Honor Society in 2005 and earned Dean's List honors in all four years, and was also named to the Who's Who Among American University and College Students while also earning an All-Academic selection by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for 2004 through 2007 seasons.

Davis will take over a Rams team that finished the 2012 season with a 20-21 overall mark finishing seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 13-13 record in league play. Suffolk advanced to the GNAC Tournament last season.
