The Suffolk University Softball team (8-22 overall, 3-11 GNAC) swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header at the hands of the Emmanuel College Saints (10-21 overall, 6-14 GNAC) on a rainy Tuesday evening.

Sophomore Lauren Barrett (Milton, Mass.) led the Rams in game one going 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of RBI to a 9-4 victory before junior Liz Galvin (Medway, Mass.) pitched a complete game three-hitter in the nightcap of an 11-1 win.

The Rams jumped out quick scoring twice in their first at-bat of game one. Junior Cali Loura (Farmington, Conn.) got the game started reaching on an infield error. After stealing second base, Loura would advance on two separate passed balls coming across to score the game's first run. The Rams would add a run later in the inning once again taking advantage of their speed as sophomore Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) stole home with two outs in the inning.

Barrett highlighted a four run fourth inning for the Rams picking up both of her RBI with a single to left field. Barrett would come around to score later in the inning as a fly ball off of the bat of Loura was dropped. The Rams would once again steal home to cap the four run inning, this time with Loura, as Suffolk stole five bags in the game.

Senior Clara Conklin (Haverhill, N.H.) would add a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and freshman Samantha McGilvray (Brighton, Mass.) would score on one of four Saints miscues later on before senior Monica Cioffi (East Boston, Mass.) added an RBI single of her own in the sixth to cap the scoring for the Rams and snap their 10-game losing streak.

Galvin picked up her third win of the season on the mound for Suffolk in game two not allowing an earned run while striking out four.

The Rams got on the board first again scoring twice in the second. Junior Karina Bolster (Carlisle, Pa.) started the inning reaching on an infield error. Sophomore Mandi Thornton (Methuen, Mass.) followed up with a single that would be misplayed by the Saints sending both baserunners around to score on the same play.

The Rams would explode for nine runs past the fifth inning taking advantage again of sloppy defensive play by the Saints. Rogers added an RBI single in a five-run fifth inning and then picked up her second RBI of the game in the seventh with a groundout.

McGilvray added an RBI single in a four-run seventh inning for the Rams to finish game two 2-for-4. McGilvray also pitched game one for Suffolk earning her fourth win of the season for the Rams.

Suffolk will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they host Mount Ida College in a rescheduled game from this past weekend. First pitch of the GNAC double header will be at 3:00pm at Popoulo Field in the North End.
