Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

The Suffolk University Softball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) double header on Wednesday afternoon over the Emmanuel College Saints. The Rams won game one, in walk-off fashion as junior Clara Conklin (Haverhill, Mass.) singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, before the Rams got a strong performance on the mound by sophomore Liz Galvin (Medway, Mass.) in the nightcap.

In game one, Emmanuel managed to score three runs in the top of the seventh, to erase a 5-2 deficit as they took advantage of two Suffolk errors. Sophomore Elyse Turgeon (Dracut, Mass.) singled to drive home a run and then score the game-tying run with two outs in the inning on an errant Suffolk throw.

The Rams would come back though in the bottom half of the inning as junior Monica Cioffi (East Boston, Mass.) got the inning going, singling with one out, before stealing second and then third base. Conklin delivered with two outs driving home her second run of the game, propelling the Rams to their fourth conference win of the season.

The Rams also got some big plays defensively in game one as they managed to turn a triple play in the fourth inning. With no outs and the bases loaded sophomore Cali Loura (Farmington, Conn.) caught a line drive and then threw to first base for the force and the second out, as the Rams then threw home and tagged out the third out on the play and escape the jam.

Cioffi finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Rams, while Conklin was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

The Saints had 11 hits in the game, as four players in their lineup finished game one with multiple hits. Turgeon finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while sophomore Chelsey Guselli (Methuen, Mass.) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run as well.  Sophomore Kristen Landers (Worcester, Mass.) was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate on the day.

Sophomore Brooke Hirschfeld (Winchester, Mass.) picked up her third win of the year on the mound for Suffolk, throwing the complete game only allowing two earned runs.

Liz Galvin picked up her second win of the year scattering eight hits through seven innings of work, while striking out eight hitters top give the Rams the sweep.

Senior Valerie Liberatore (Chelsea, Mass.) drove in two runs with a triple in the third, as the Rams plated four runs to cruise to a 5-2 victory. Conklin added a single later in the inning as well.

Sophomore Karina Bolster (Carlisle, Penn.) finished the game 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI for Suffolk who earned their first GNAC double header sweep of the season.

Guselli and Turgeon each had a pair of hits in game two as well for the Saints.

Emmanuel will host Emerson College on Friday in a GNAC Double Header beginning at 6:00pm at Clemente Field. Suffolk hosts Wheelock College in non-conference action on Wednesday beginning at 3:00pm.
