Men’s Cross Country Ranked Ninth in East by USTFCCCA

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's cross country sits ninth in the East in the Week 1 edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Rams have been a staple in the weekly regional poll since making the program debut Sept. 14, 2021. The blue-and-gold, who was seventh in the preseason rankings, dipped down to ninth after its performance at the 10th annual Wheaton & Babson Season Opener Aug. 31 where Suffolk finished sixth in the field of nine.

Suffolk is one of two Conference of New England (CNE) programs to break into the week one regional rankings as Roger Williams moved up to eighth on the Mideast Region list.

The Rams are one of seven institutions in the East to see both their men's and women's programs to be recognized on the regional ranking list with Suffolk's women's squad tying a program-best fourth, the highest regional ranking in University history by either cross country program.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, to determine a ranking-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

After two weeks off, Suffolk returns to action this weekend when it makes the trip to Middletown, Connecticut for Cardinal Invitational at The Wes Fuhrman '05 Trails Cross Country Course.
