Men’s Cross Country Lands Seventh in East in USTFCCCA Rankings

USTFCCCA RANKINGS

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's cross country has raced its way to seventh in the East in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, the national organization announced.

The Rams, who sat ninth in the preseason poll, have moved up each week and are featured seventh in the week 2 edition. The seventh-place spot ties a program record for Suffolk, which it last achieved Oct. 13, 2022. The blue-and-gold has been the only Commonwealth Coast Conference institution to appear in the USTFCCCA regional rankings this season.

Suffolk moved up in the poll after defeating Colby, who was ranked seventh, at the Bates Invitational Sunday in Auburn, Maine.

The Rams have yet to miss a regional ranking since making its debut week one of the 2021 campaign.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning team's strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining a rank-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

Suffolk will use this week to rest and prepare for the Blugold Invite in Colfax, Wisconsin Friday, Sept. 29.
