Men’s Cross Country Holds on to Seventh in USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – For the third consecutive week, Suffolk men's cross country is ranked seventh in the east in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings, the national organization announced.

The Rams took seventh in the week 3rd edition of the poll, Sept. 27, and has remained there after two weeks away from competition. The leap up to seventh, the highest regional ranking in program history, came on the heels of the blue-and-gold's third-place performance at the Bowdoin Invitational Sept. 24. Suffolk is the lone only Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) member to make the regional rankings thus far this year.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member program are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

Suffolk returns to competition after two weeks idle at its own meet this weekend, the Suffolk Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 15. The Rams will race in the men's varsity 8k at 2:30 p.m. at Franklin Park. The event will also serve as the Battle for Boston Commons, a head-to-head competition with the Rams Beantown neighbor Emerson.
