Men’s Cross Country Moves to Seventh in East Regional Rankings

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's cross country jumped up a spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings as the Rams are spotted seventh in the east, the national organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The seventh position is the highest in program history for the blue-and-gold surpassing the previous mark of eighth, which Suffolk has been in multiple times including last week's list. The Rams moved up one spot, switching places with Babson, after Suffolk defeated the Beavers at the Bowdoin Invitational over the weekend. Nearly every Ram notched a personal record en route to a third-place performance on the course that will be the site of the 2022 NCAA Division III East Regionals Saturday, Nov. 12.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010.

Suffolk has yet to miss a poll since making the program debut in week one of the 2021 campaign. The Rams are the only Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) representative to make the list thus far this season.

The blue-and-gold is idle until Saturday, Oct. 15 when it hosts the annual Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park. That meet will also dual as the Battle for Boston Common, a friendly head-to-head race between the Rams and their Beantown neighbor, Emerson.
