Csiki-Fejer Collects CoSIDA Academic All-American Third-Team Honors

CoSIDA Release

AUSTIN, Texas – Matyas Csiki-Fejer of the Suffolk men's cross country and track & field teams has earned a spot on the 2019-20 Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country third-team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Despite the cancellation of the spring competition as a result of COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics/results.

The continuation of the program paid off for Csiki-Fejer, who became the first-ever male runner to pick up an All-District nod a month ago, as he is the youngest academic All-American in Suffolk history across all sports. Matter of fact, the Manchester, Missouri, native, is the only sophomore among the 48 student-athletes honored this year.

Suffolk has seen a student-athlete achieve academic all-america status in each of the last three years with Emily Manfra of the Rams' women's cross country and track & field programs achieving the feat a year ago. Csiki-Fejer joins the elite list as the fourth-ever member of Suffolk's community to achieve the feat and second-ever male student-athlete, following men's basketball's Brian Small, who was a recipient as a senior in 2008-09.

Csiki-Fejer was voted onto the team as a double-major in public policy and pre-law, who has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average, just one of eight student-athletes recognized on the teams to do so. Athletically, the long-distance runner has been a program, conference and regional powerhouse since bursting onto the scene a year ago.

The captain's resume includes a pair of GNAC Runner of the Year honors, earning the distinction in cross country and indoor track & field this year, (2019-20, two GNAC Rookie of the Ye, four nods, six individual GNAC Championship crowns, seven All-GNAC honors and two all-region nods from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Csiki-Fejer's extensive athletic resume is complimented by a perfect academic report card. Over his four semesters at Suffolk, he has maintained an unblemished 4.0 GPA to achieve USTFCCCA academic honors twice.
