Men’s Cross Country, Csiki-Fejer Collect USTFCCCA Academic Awards

2019 ALL-USTFCCCA ACADEMIC HONORS 2019 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

NEW ORLEANS – The Suffolk men's cross country team and sophomore Matyas Csiki-Fejer were acknowledged for their work on the course and inside the classroom as it earned 2019 All-Academic Award status, presented by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The qualifications for the award are two-fold with an academic requirement of a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, while the athletic prerequisite is a team finish at the regional meet.

As the team, the Rams combined for 3.470 GPA to hit the academic qualification and had the best showing at regionals, with a 25th-place performance in Brunswick, Maine, Nov. 16, 2019, to take home its third straight team academic award. Suffolk was just one of two GNAC teams on the list that featured 172 NCAA Division III programs along with Emmanuel. The blue-and-gold's 3.47 GPA was the 49th-best.

Individually, Csiki-Fejer earned his second recognition.

For an individual to be considered for the award, the student-athlete must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent at the regional event.

On the course he became the first-ever Ram to compete at NCAAs after securing a 19th-place finish at regionals. Academically, the double major in public policy and pre-law kept his cumulative GPA perfect with a 4.00 2019 fall semester.

Csiki-Fejer has been the only Ram from the men's cross country program to take home the academic accolade and was one of two GNAC student-athletes on the list along with Colby Sawyer's Ben Jones.
