Cross Country Competes at Saints Invitational

Boston, MA - The Suffolk University Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams competed at the Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College on a blustery Friday afternoon. Suffolk's Men finished 14th among all teams with a total of 363 points.

Freshman John Blazo (Pembroke, MA) was once again the Rams' top finisher among the men's divison. Blazo finished the 8K race in 30:04 for a placement of 52 points. Blazo was the 65th runner to cross the finish line on the day. Freshman Justin Mark (Dartmouth, MA) finished the race in 31:21, 81st among all runners as he earned the Rams 66 points. Freshman Timothy Webber (Littleton, MA) came across the finish line in 31:48 for 75 points, while freshman Matthew Bly (Boca Raton, FL) earned 84 points for Suffolk with a finishing time of 33:35. Freshman Clayton Fleener (Indianapolis, IN) was the fifth Rams' runner to complete the course coming in at 35:08. MIT was the top men's team on the day as the Engineers had five runners place in the top 6. Greg Redfield of Johnson & Wales University finished with the best individual time, completing the racer in 26 minutes.

On the women's side freshman Emily Farr (Ithaca, NY) completed the 5K in 24:22 for the Rams. Freshman Christina Webster (Wallingford, CT) was the only other Suffolk runner to complete the course coming in at 37:14. MIT was the winner on the women's side as well as the Engineers had the top 5 runners in the race finishing with a total of 15 team points for the win. Katherine Eve had the best individual time finishing in 18:50.

Suffolk will be back in action again on Saturday as they compete in the Gordon College Invitational in Wenham, MA.
