Cross-Country Runs at GNAC Championship

The Suffolk University Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams both competed at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship meet this past weekend hosted by Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

Suffolk's Men placed 7th among the nine teams racing in the 8k race. Freshman John Blazo (Pembroke, MA) once again was the Rams' top runner finishing the race in 30:33 for a placement of 23. Freshman Matthew Bly (Boca Raton, FL) finished the race in 34:24 for a placement of 45, while sophomore Justin Mark (Dartmouth, MA) was right behind him at 46 crossing the finish line at 34:29. Freshman Andrew MacDonald (Sandwich, MA) rounded out the top fifty racers coming in at 34:54. Sophomore Corey Allen (Marietta, GA) - 37:06 (54), freshman Timothy Webber (Littleton, MA) - 38:18 (59), freshman Clayton Fleener (Indianapolis, IN) - 38:46 (63) rounded out the rest of the race for Suffolk. The Rams finished with a team total of 192 points. Johnson & Wales University finished with the best team total, 17 points, while Greg Redfield of the Wildcats had the best individual time, finishing the race in 27:14.

On the women's side, sophomore Megan Scully (North Kingstown, RI) was Suffolk's top finisher completing the 5k in 24:10. Freshman Emily Farr (Ithaca, NY) finished the race in 25:05. Freshman Beatrice Bianchi-Fasani (Rome, Italy) - 26:12, and freshman Christina Webster (Wallingford, CT) -35:40 also ran for the Rams. Suffolk did not have the necessary five runners finish the race to finish for a team placement.  Emerson College had the best team total with 48 points, while the Lions' Caprice Capucci had the best individual time of 20:52.

Suffolk will now compete next weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship held at Williams College.
