Makiej Earns USTFCCCA All-Region

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – For the first time since 2022, Suffolk men's outdoor track & field saw a Ram garner All-East honors from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as Michael Makiej earned the feat in the high jump, the national organization announced.

The distinction goes to the top-5 individuals in each event from each region in addition to each of the members of the top-3 relay teams following the conclusion of the regular season.

Makiej, a native of Andover, Massachusetts, jumped his way to his first all-region recognition in the high jump. He cleared a program-record 2.01 meters at MIT's Final Qualifier May 15 to rank fourth in the event. He is the first-ever jumper, male or female, to pick up the All-East accolade in the University's history.

The all-region honor, meanwhile, is the seventh for Suffolk men's outdoor track & field, first since 2022 when Michael Balestra and Matyas Csiki-Fejer combined for three honors.

Makiej is one of nine student-athletes from the Conference of New England to receive all-recognition distinction from the national organization. Hartford had four students combine for five honors, while Roger Williams saw four student-athletes scoop up the nod as well.
