Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Trio Qualifies for New Englands at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBUR, Va. – Suffolk men's outdoor track & field saw three Rams punch their tickets to New Englands at the 59th Colonial Relays at THE Walter J. Sable Stadium at Cary Field over the weekend. 

REGIONAL RAMS

  • All three Rams that qualified were runners in Tim Barry (1500), Thomas Novy (5,000) and Sean Jacobsen(10,000).

RAMS RECORDS

  • Suffolk's three New England qualifiers, Barry, Novy and Jacobsen all recorded personal-best in their respective events. 
  • Nathan Feranandes finished the 400 in a career-best time of 51.63. 
  • Tighe Hosman rewrote the program's record in the 400 hurdles with a time of 58.67. 

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Barry put together a time of 4:00.81 in the 1500, good for 19th. 
  • Novy secured 27th in the 5k with a time of 14:59.51. 
  • Jacobsen (33:21.32) and Hayden Green (33:31.75) finished one after another in the 10k in 19th and 20th, respectively. 
  • Fernandes made the lap around the track in 51.63, while Joshua Durand clocked a 52.61 in the 400. 
  • Fernandes (23.20), Durand (23.81) and Hosman (25.14) all competed in the 200. 

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HURDLERS

  • Hosman hurdled to 31st in the 400 hurdles with at time of 58.67.  

JUMPERS JIST

  • Michael Makiej finished 11th in the high jump as he cleared 1.88 meters. 
  • Fernandes placed 31st in the long jump with a 5.95-meter leap.

Suffolk is set to take its talents to the Silfen Invitational next weekend, April 11-12.
