NEW ORLEANS – Thomas Novy of the Suffolk men's outdoor track & field team garnered All-East distinction from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in the 10,000-meter, the national organization unveiled.
The accolade is awarded to the top five individuals in each event from reach region take home all-region honors in addition to each of the members of the top-3 ranked relay team.
Novy received all-region in the 10K thanks to his time of 30:46.99, which he clocked at the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza May 10, 2024. That performance marked a personal-best for the junior and is a Rams record as well.
The regional accolade is the first for Novy in outdoor track & field. He is the first Suffolk student-athlete to pick up the recognition since Michael Balestra and Matyas Csiki-Fejer were tabbed All-East by the USTFCCCA in the hammer throw and 1500, respectively, in 2022. The blue-and-gold's men's outdoor track & field team now boasts seven all-region awards all-time, all belonging to Novy (1), Csiki-Fejer (4) and Balestra (2).
Novy is one of five student-athletes from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) to receive an all-region award. Roger Williams had two student-athletes combine for three honors including Nathan Tassey, who joined Novy in the 10,000. Wentworth also had one student-athlete recognized.
