Balestra Garners All-New England, Men’s Track & Field Pair Competes at New Englands

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – For the first time in Suffolk men's track & field's short history, the Rams had student-athletes compete at the regional level as Michael Balestra and Maytas Csiki-Fejer compete at the NCAA Division III New England Championships at Williams over the Weekend.

Balestra made more history individually as the freshman from Lincoln, Rhode Island, put together a top-eight finish in the hammer throw to claim All-New England honors from the New England DIII Cross Country and Track & Field Association. Balestra is the first-ever member of Suffolk's men's outdoor track & field team to garner all-region accolades. The freshman narrowly claimed his eight-place finish as his toss of 48.49 meters with just 0.20 meters ahead of ninth-place finisher, Ryan Nall of MIT.

Csiki-Fejer took the 1500 course and clocked with a personal-best of 3:58.69 to finish 11th overall.

Suffolk will have one last chance to claim a spot in the NCAA DIII Championships, which are set for Memorial Day Weekend in Spire, Ohio, at MIT's Last Qualifier next weekend, Saturday, May 16.
