Men’s Track & Field Runs at Penman Relays

HOOKSETT, N.H. – Suffolk men's track & field took its talent to the Granite State Saturday, April 13 for Southern New Hampshire's second annual Penman Relays. As a team, the blue-and-gold combined for a 19th-place finish in the field of 23.  

Suffolk's largest contingent ran the mile course. Hunter Toyoda paced the Rams' quartet in the 46-runner field with an 18th-place performance behind a time of 4:49.93. Keoni Geers also put together a sub-5:00.0 mile, clocking in at 4:54.72 to take 20th. Keoni Torres finished two spots behind his classmate in 22nd with a time of 5:00.81. Jonah Flores rounded out Suffolk's student-athletes in the heat with a 28th-place finish on a 5:07.23 performance. 

Robert Solari had a hectic day as he competed in three different events – two field and one running. The freshman tried his hands in the high jump where he finished 10th, clearing 1.78, and the long jump. He also was one of two Suffolk students in to compete in the 400-meter dash. His time of 52.67 was good for 13th out of 64. Justin Patten joined Solari in the event and took 39th with a time of 56.02.  

Nick Malm and Nicholas Nunez rounded out the Rams runners. Malm competed in the 5000 meter (17:25.90, 16th) and Nunez participated in the 200-meter dash (25.30, 52nd). 

Michael BalestraMichael Power and Matt Sambuceti represented the Rams in in the field events. The trio all participated in the discus throw, Power (10.24 M) and Sambuceti (10.12 M) both competed in the shot put. Balestra was the lone Suffolk student in the hammer throw and put together a highlight fourth-place showing with a toss of 47.60 meters.  

Suffolk is back in action next weekend at Princeton's Larry Ellis Relays Friday, April 19 and MIT's Sean Collier Invitational the following day, Saturday, April 20.
