Barry Becomes Regional Champ to Anchor Men’s Indoor Track & Field at New England

BOSTON – Tim Barry of the Suffolk men's indoor track & field made program history Saturday as he raced to an individual champion status in the mile at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Track at New Balance.

Barry clocked a 4:07.72 to top the 18-runner field in the mile. He is the first-ever to land atop a regional podium and garner the Regional Champion title. In addition to that, he garnered All-New England status, awarded to the top-8 performance in each event.

Michael Nossek received an All-New England recognition of his own as the freshman dashed to fifth in the 60 with a time of 6.92.

Barry and Nossek are the first-ever Rams to capture All-New England in program history.

Michael Makiej was just outside the All-New England bubble in the high jump as his 1.90-meter effort was good for 10th.

The trio combined for 14 points, good for 12th in the 32-team field. It is the first time in Suffolk's history that it compiled a team finish at New England Indoor Championships.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, March 2 at the Last Chance Qualifier. Barry will look to improve upon his mile time, while Thomas Novy will run the 5k at Boston University.
