NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk men's track & field and junior captain Matyas Csiki-Fejer grabbed academic accolades from the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week. The Rams garnered All-Academic Team, while Csiki-Fejer collected All-Academic Athlete status from the national organization.

Will Feldman's squad received the recognition for the third straight season. In order to be eligible for the honor, a program's cumulative team grade point average of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester and/or quarter.

The blue-and-gold's 38 student-athletes combined for a 3.455 cumulative GPA, which was the 48th best of the 160 programs honored. On the league scale, Suffolk is the only Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) team on the nation list for the third time in as many years.

Csiki-Fejer became an All-Academic Athlete for track & field for the first time in his career, while the academic accolade is the third from the national organization with a pair coming for his athletic and athletic achievements in cross country. For an individual to be considered for the feat the qualification is two-fold with an academic requirement of a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and an athletic prerequisite of finishing among the top 50 individuals on the Track and First Rank and Results System (TFRRS) list.

Academically, the Manchester, Missouri native has compiled an unblemished 4.00 GPA over six semesters as a double major concentrating in public policy and pre-law.

Athletically, he has been a stand out from the get-go as a long-distance runner. This outdoor season specially he put together a pair of top-50 performances. The first came May 14 when he topped the 10,000 field at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA), the second oldest track & field meet in the United States, with a time of 20:47.31. That performance, which finished first in a field of 12 runners comprised of individuals from all NCAA divisions, was the 23rd best across NCAA DIII this season. Six days later, he clocked the 30th-fastest time in division the 5,000 with a 14:39.91 at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet.

Csiki-Fejer is the only GNAC student-athlete to achieve All-Academic Athlete status from the USTFCCCA for track & field in the conference's history.
