Baston Named GNAC Co-Athlete/Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Connor Baston of the Suffolk men's indoor track & field team earned both GNAC Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors after his performance at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games Saturday night. The Rams' rookie shares the weekly honors with Saint Joseph's (Maine) Simon Vinci.

Baston represented the Rams in a pair of events at the Reggie Lewis Center. In the 60-meter dash, he finished 24th with a time of 7.32 and one-upped that with a 23rd-place performance in the 200 behind. Time of 23.40. Both efforts rank inside the Top 25 in NCAA Division III this year.

Baston is the first-ever Suffolk student-athlete, either male or female, to sweep the conference's weekly accolades. He is the third male student to receive weekly recognition from the league in program history though as Matyas Csiki-Fejer was tabbed the best athlete and Cole Bolduc was named the best rookie in a seven-day stretch the league's inaugural indoor men's track & field awards a week ago.

Baston and the Rams will take the next month off and return to action Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Tufts Invitational.
