2019-20 SUFFOLK MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD ROSTER
BOSTON – Suffolk men's indoor track & field head coach Will Feldman has added 14 new faces to the 2019-20 squad. The bunch features a baker's dozen true freshmen and one graduate student.
Half of the newcomers – Liam Breen, Cole Bolduc, Ryan Buchanan, Byron Deily, Elijah Dillon, Guilaume Glaudel and Justin Turner – made their collegiate debuts for the Rams' cross country programs this fall. They helped the blue-and-gold to a third place showing at the GNAC Championships and the best-ever team finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships with a 25th-place performance.
Bolduc highlighted the fresh faces, garnering GNAC Rookie of the Year status and looks to build on that success when he takes his running shoes indoors this winter.
"Cole (Bolduc) was the GNAC Cross Country Rookie of the Year, and he has his eyes set on doing the same thing during the track season," Feldman said. "He has the potential to contend for a GNAC title in multiple events, and could qualify for the New England Championships in three or four events as well."
Connor Abbotoni and Connor Baston each add depth to Suffolk's sprinters.
"Connor Baston is a guy with a ton of untapped potential," said Feldman. "He qualified for the Connecticut State Championships as a senior off of pure talent. At practice you can tell he's on an entirely different level, and once we can fine tune some things he will be one of the top short sprinters in the GNAC this season. He's another guy who could sneak into the New England Championships."
Feldman continued, "A state championship qualifier from Maine, Connor Abbotoni is a talented sprinter who can run anything from the 100 M to 400 M. We will rely upon him heavily as a key part of our relay teams."
Joshua Smith is a well-rounded individual who can make an immediate impact as well.
"Josh (Smith) gives us a great deal of depth," Feldman said. "He can run anything from the 200 up to the 1,000. He is going to be a key part of a young 4x400 relay squad that will contend for a GNAC title."
Rounding out the true freshmen are Patrick Barnes, Frank Irizarry and Thomas Russo with graduate student Tristan Smith also in the mix for the upcoming season, which begins this weekend at the Emmanuel Invitational and Boston Unviersity's Sharon-Colyear-Danivlle Season Opener.
