BOSTON – The Suffolk men's indoor track & field team lifted the lid on its 2018-19 schedule at the UMass Boston Winter Open Saturday, Dec. 1.
The Rams had their largest contingent in the 1 mile run with five student-athletes in the field of nearly 70. Kevin Torres led the way with a 17th-place performance with a time of 4:42.66. Johan Flores was on Torres' heels, finishing 30 seconds behind his classmate to take 19th. Nick Malm (4:51.10, 25th), Arthur Lacerda (5:02.01, 38th) and Keoni Geers (5:05.63, 41st) also donned the blue-and-gold in the mile.
Three different runners competed in the 200 M dash in Robert Solari, Justin Patten and Nicholas Nunez.
Ryan Holloway and Joseph Robinson ran in the 400 M dash and 1000 M dash, respectively.
Roth Santos and Hunter Toyoda rounded out the Rams' runners in the 3000 M.
Solari was one of five Suffolk student-athletes to participate in the field events and competed in the high jump. Matthew Sambuceti, Michael Power and George Yeghyayan each had a hand in the shot put, while Sambuceti and Michael Balestra competed in the weight throw.
Suffolk wraps up first semester action next weekend at the RIC Invitational Saturday, Dec. 8.
