PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A dozen Ram competed in their respective events at the Rhode Island College Track and Field Invitational on Saturday. 

Sophomore Emma Weisse had the standout showing of the day as the sophomore won the women's 3000 meter run. Her time of 11:04.22 put the Hampden, Massachusetts, product first in the field of 18. 

Classmate Emily Manfra has had a day with a third-place showing in the 1 mile with a time of 5:36.90. Manfra took the course with her teammates Bailey Sanchez, Michelle Kearney and Natalie Fay. Sanchez finished with a time of 6:13.85, six spots behind Manfra in ninth.  Kearney placed with a time of 6:34.37 (15th), and Fay finished two minutes later (16th).  

Junior Alison Espindola competed in the women's 100 meter run (18th). Sophomore Mariama Kamara, meanwhile, raced in both the 200 meter dash (28.52; 17th) and the 60 meter dash (8:42; 14th). 

On the men's side, Eddie Lui had the best placing of the day for the Ram's in the 100 meter run at 17th with a time of 3:19.16. He also ran in the 200 meter dash. Freshman Nicholas Nunez represented the Rams in the 400 meter dash. 

Sophomore Matthew Sambeceti was the lone field competitor for the blue-and-gold. Sambeceti put together an 8.28 m throw in the weight throw along with a 9.40 m throw in the shot put. 

After the New Year, Suffolk returns to action when the Rams head to the Tufts-Gantcher Field House, Saturday, Jan. 13 for the Tufts Invitational.
