Wentworth Takes Down Men’s Tennis in Regular-Season Finale, 7-2

BELMONT, Mass. – Suffolk men's tennis fell in its final regular-season match of 2023 as the Leopards of Wentworth got past the Rams, 7-2, in a commonwealth Coast Conference contest at Belmont Hill Wednesday night.  

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hasan Esrawi and Daniel Dayn played as the second doubles tandem for the first time this season to put Suffolk on the board. The twosome defeated Kevin Shields and Pranva Marwaha 8-4, however, Suffolk went into singles play trailing 1-2.  

The Leopards quickly locked up the win as they won matches on courts six, three, one, two and four in that order to make it 7-1. 

With the setback fate already sealed for Suffolk, Mikhail Reilly downed James Weete, 6-4, 6-4, on the fifth court for the 7-2 final.

4 – Eric Doraci (Wentworth) defeated Diego Hernandez-Pons (Suffolk), 6-1, 6-3
5 – Mikhail Reilly (Suffolk) defeated James Weete (Wentworth), 6-4, 6-4
6 – Owen Conlon (Wentworth) defeated Milind Kulkarni (Suffolk), 6-4, 6-4

DOUBLES
1 – Daniel Gallegos/Rene Rodriguez (Wentworth) defeated Mehdi Mered/Diego Hernandez-Pons (Suffolk), 8-3

  • Mehdi Mered and Diego Hernandez-Pons teamed up as the top tandem for the first time this season.
