Men’s Tennis Tallies First Win, Downs Albertus Magnus, 6-3

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Suffolk men's tennis team found its way into the win column Tuesday night as the Rams put together a comeback to take down Albertus Magnus, 6-3, for its first victory of the 2019 season at Celentano Courts. 

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Albertus Magnus grabbed an early 2-1 lead as the Falcons won doubles matches on courts one and three. The duo of Rami Esrawi and Chris Parnagian got the Rams on the board as the senior and junior earned a golden match victory over Will Kouakou and Marcus Hooks on court two. 

In singles action, Suffolk won every court except No. 1 to lock up the win. 

Davis Alimonte got things going as the freshman downed Proscino 7-5, 6-4, in the fifth spot to even the playing field at 2-all. 

From there, Rami Esrawi picked up a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, decision over Will Kouakou at No. 3 and Nick Vaillancourt set up match point with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Marcus Hooks in the fourth position. 

Charles Tang clinched the non-conference victory with a 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 triumph over Nick Tagiaferri in the sixth spot and Chris Parnagian closed out the scoring for Suffolk with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory against Alex Hale on court two. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk won its sixth straight match over the Falcons to move to 6-0 versus Albertus Magnus since 2009. 
  • The doubles partnership of Rami Esrawi and Chris Parnigian notched their first golden match of the season. 
  • Nick Valliancourt made his collegiate singles debut and did so in winning fashion in the fourth spot. 
  • Davis Alimonte earned his first collegiate victory over Alex Proscino in the fifth spot.
