Ilarslan Russo Tabbed GNAC Corvias Player of the Week

BOSTON - Ariel Ilarslan Russo of the Suffolk men's tennis team garnered GNAC Corvias Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. The laurels come on the heels of a 2-1 week for the Rams.

Individually, Russo debut as the Ram as Suffolk's ace in the blue-and-gold's first victory of the season, a 5-4 decision over Curry Wednesday. Since that victory the freshman has not relinquished the top spot for Suffolk and he went on to win two more singles matches over UMass Boston and Curry to remain unbeaten, 3-0, on the season.

He has also been an ingredient as the Rams' top tandem. He earned his first doubles victory Saturday against Emerson.

Ilarlsan Russo became the first Ram to take home player of the week accolades by the league since Harlan Strader garnered the same accolade April 11, 2011.

Russo and the Rams are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3 as they hit the road for the first time in 2018 with a visit to Lesley on the schedule.
