Three Men’s Tennis Standouts Earn ITA Scholar-Athletes Distinction

BOSTON – Three standout members of the Suffolk men's tennis team was recognized for excellence inside the classroom by the International Tennis Association (ITA) as Anton Boubnov, Jose Gonzalez and Nicholas Maragos garnered Scholar Athlete distinction. 

To qualify as an ITA Scholar Athlete a student must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and earn varsity letterman status. 

In their first year as Rams, Boubnov, Gonzalez and Maragos are the first members of the men's tennis program to garner the academic honor in recent history. The three members of the Class of 2018 helped Suffolk to a 6-3 overall record and the second seed in the GNAC North Division. 

Suffolk's athletic department achieved a 3.1 GPA over the 2014-15 calendar year, which was comprised of 205 student-athletes. The Rams are the only Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's team to be recognized by the ITA. Across all divisions, 451 teams and 3,270 student-athletes made the list.
