Men's Tennis Post 6-3 Win at Newbury College on Monday

The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team picked up their third victory of the season in four matches with a 6-3 win over Newbury College on Monday afternoon.

Suffolk was victorious in five of six singles matches as seniors Drew Reilly (Boston, Mass.) and Vassili Stroganov (Hoersholm, Germany) were multiple winners on the day.

Reilly and Stroganov picked up Suffolk's lone victory in doubles play on the afternoon as the duo partnered for an 8-3 victory in the second tandem match.

Reilly was a winner in the second individual game with 6-2, 6-1 victories while Stroganov won his singles match with consecutive 6-0 positings.

Suffolk rallied down 2-1 after doubles play with a near sweep of singles competition.

Sophomore Calixto Romero (Lima, Peru) took the top singles game with a 7-5, 6-2 win in the number one match.

Freshman Francesco Saia (Wakefield, Mass.) and sophomore Xiau Wang (Beijing, China) rounded out the field winning the number four and five games respectively. Saia took the number for singles match in straight 6-0 sets. Wang was a winner in the number five game with 6-2, 6-3 scores.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Salem State University for a non-league matchup with the Vikings beginning at 3:30pm.
