Men's Tennis Earn Multiple Postseason Awards

The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team earned multiple honors for their 2013 season. The Rams advanced to the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship but their hopes for a fifth straight conference crown fell short with a 5-4 loss to Rampao College in the finals.

Sophomore Marc Winkler (Caracas, Venezuela) was tabbed as a first-team All Conference selection despite a 3-5 overall record. Winkler played all eight of his matches in singles play as the Rams' top individual player in the number one position and posted a 2-1 record in GNAC matches.

Sophomore Vassili Stroganov (Hoersholm, Germany) and junior Aaron Lau (Hong Kong, China) earned second team honors for their singles play.

Lau was 4-4 on the season in individual play, while winning a combined nine contests on the year with five doubles victories.

Stroganov won a team-high 10 matches as he was the only Suffolk player to appear in the team's 14 matches during 2013. Stroganov played primarily in the number four position going 4-1 while he also won three games in each of the fifth and sixth singles spots. Stroganov also earned selection to the GNAC's All-Sportsmanship team.

Sophomore Calixto Romero (Peru) was named to the GNAC All-Tournament team as he posted a 4-1 record in the three game tournament. Romero picked up three victories in doubles play during the championship weekend.

Suffolk finished the season with a 7-7 overall record.
