Men's Tennis Roll to 8-1 Win

The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team rolled to an 8-1 non-conference victory over the Rhode Island College Anchormen on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore Marc Winkler (Caracus, Venezuela) was a multiple winner on the evening as he was victorious in the top singles spot and also earned a double victory with senior partner Aaron Lau (Hong Kong, China) in the top double match. Winkler won the first singles position with a 10-1 three set tiebreak while he and Lau combined for an 8-3 doubles set win.

Lau collected a win in the third singles game as well with wins in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.

Juniors Drew Reilly (Boston, Mass.), Vasilli Stroganov (Hoersholm, Germany) and senior Dachuan Zhu (Beijing, China) were all multiple winners on the evening for the Rams who move to a 2-1 record to start the year.

Reilly took the number four singles game, 6-3, 6-0 after partnering with sophomore Calixto Romer (Peru) for an 8-5 doubles set win.

Stroganov and Zhu doubled up for an 8-2 win in the third tandem match before rounding out the number five and six spots in individually play with Rams victories.

Suffolk will be back in action on Thursday afternoon as they take on the UMass-Boston Beacons at 3:00pm.
