Tennis Moves to 4-0 on Season

Senior Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI) notched the Rhode Island College men's tennis team's lone win as Suffolk University remained unbeaten in a decisive, 8-1, victory over the Anchormen at the RIC Tennis Courts.

Suffolk (4-0) opened the contest by taking all three doubles matches. Although the top three singles matches were all straight set wins, all three were highlighted by hard fought sets.

Rebello defeated junior Sean Cullen (Wells, ME) in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 1 singles, but the remaining five matchups all went the Rams way.

The most hotly contested match occurred at No. 4 singles. RIC (2-3) freshman Kyle Kelaghan (East Greenwich, RI) bounced back from a first set loss to SU senior John Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) to win, 6-3, in the second frame. Samander rallied to down Kelaghan in the third set, 10-8.

Suffolk dominated the late singles matches. Freshman Hubert Cromback (Paris, France) headlined the late Ram effort, knocking off RIC junior Jason Morin (East Providence, RI), 6-1, 6-1.

Junior Chris Staley (London, England) won at both No. 2 singles and paired with Cullen for a victory at the top doubles spot.
