Men's Tennis Improve to 2-0 to Start 2010

Boston, Mass. – The Suffolk University Men’s Tennis team improved to 2-0 to start the 2010 season defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology, 6-3 on Thursday evening.

Sophomore Chris Staley (London, England) pushed his overall record to 4-0 winning in both singles and doubles play. Staley was victorious, 6-1, 6-2 in the second spot insingles play over the Leopards’ Dan Alexander and partnered with junior John Samander (Curacao, Netherlands) for a 9-7 win in the second doubles position for the Rams.

Samander was also a winner in the sixth singles position for Suffolk as he was a 6-0,6-0 victor out of the sixth singles position.

Senior Jared Orkin (Newton, Mass.) also picked up two victories winning in singles play 6-1, 6-3 in the three position for the Rams, and then earning a doubles win along with junior Justin Ayoub (Brooklyn, N.Y.), 8-5 in the third doubles post.

Freshman Harlan Strader (Marblehead, Mass.) earned the Rams other point on the evening as he was a winner in the four position in singles play, 6-3, 6-3 over the Leopards’ Nate Gove.

The Rams will be back in action on Saturday as they host Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at 6:30pm at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols.
