Men's Tennis Fall to Emerson

Boston, MA -- Emerson College (2-2, 2-0 GNAC) handed the Suffolk University Men's Tennis team (1-2, 1-1 GNAC) their first loss in conference play in 2009 winning by a score of 5-4. Both teams were even in singles play winning three sets each, but Emerson had the 2-1 edge in double play to earn the victory.

Suffolk's top three players were all victorious on Saturday in singles matches. Junior Diego Alvarado (Boston, MA) got his first win of the season in singles play for the Rams defeating Allesandro Bellino in the one position. Freshman Chris Staley (London, England) was victorious in the two spot for Suffolk defeating Brant Brackley. Junior Jared Orkin (Newton, MA) got Suffolk's third win defeating Mark Jackman in the three position.

Alvarado and senior Garrett Freeman (Beacon, NY) fell in Suffolk's first doubles match by a score of 8-5 to Allesandro Bellino and Brant Buckley. Staley earned his second victory of the day, partnering with sophomore John Samander (Curacao) to defeat Jackman and Varun Kapur. Dave Fein and Ken Nikravesh got the match deciding victory defeating Orkin and senior Greg Garrison (Beacon, NY) 8-6 in the third doubles match.

Suffolk plays again Tuesday as the host Wentworth in a non-conference match to be played at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols starting at 6:30 pm.
