BEVERLY, Mass. – Diego Pierantozzi of the Suffolk men's soccer team was selected as Conference of New England (CNE) Offensive Player of the Week after his three-point effort in a 2-0 shutout of Hartford over the weekend, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Pierantozzi had a hand in both of the Rams' goals in the cleansheet over the Hawks that helped Suffolk remain unbeaten against conference competition this season. The junior from Weston, Florida, scored the game-winner in the 68th minute and assisted on the insurance tally that came 3:09 left in regulation. The marker was the forward's second of the campaign. Both of his strikes this season have pushed Suffolk to victory.
It is the first time this season that Pierantozzi was selected as the league's best offensive player in a seven-day span and second time in his career he was recognized by the conference as he was tabbed offensive player of the Week Sept. 25, 2022. The weekly accolade is the second for the Rams this year as Francisco Valck took home CNE Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 3.
Suffolk and Pierantozzi are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 8 when they battle at No. 12 Babson at 3:30 p.m.
