Smargon Selected CNE Offensive Player of the Week

BEVELRY, Mass. – Damon Smargon of the Suffolk men's soccer team was named Conference of New England (CNE)'s Offensive Player of the Week after a six-point effort in un unbeaten, 1-0-1, stretch for the Rams, the league office unveiled Monday.  

Smargon paced the blue-and-gold to a 6-1 offensive onslaught at Mass. Maritime Tuesday with six points. The senior midfielder's effort came behind personal-best efforts in every offensive category including two goals and two assists.  

Saturday, the San Diego, California, product aided in the 1-1 stalemate in Suffolk's CNE opener at Gordon. 

The weekly award is a first for the senior and marks the second time this season Suffolk had a player selected as the conference's best offensive player in a seven-day stretch as Francisco Valck earned the recognition week one, Sept. 3.  

Smargon and Suffolk return to action this Wednesday, Sept. 25 when MIT stops by East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.
