BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's soccer's Francisco Valck earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week thanks to his contribution to the Rams' 1-1-0 week, the league office announced.
Valck, a freshman from Weston, Florida, started the 2-1 setback to Framingham State, before he notched his first collegiate point in Suffolk's CCC debut, a 4-0 triumph over Wentworth. The forward handed out one assist in the league-opening shutout to help Suffolk start CCC action in the win column for the first time since 2021 and second time overall.
The Rams have been featured in every edition of the 2023 of the CCC weekly awards. Nathan Harlow and Xander Balog took home the league's defensive player of the week one after another before Valck became the first Suffolk student-athlete to be tabbed the best over a seven-day stretch this season. Overall, it is the first rookie of the week award for a player in blue-and-gold since Matthew Belluardo grabbed the distinction Sept. 26, 2022.
Suffolk and Valck are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 19 when Mass. Maritime stops by East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium for a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt.
