Balog Named CCC Defensive Player of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Xander Balog of the Suffolk men's soccer team garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after producing a 1.5 GAA and .667 save percentage in a 0-1-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday.

The junior from Tallahasse, Florida, got the week going with a three-save performance in a scoreless draw at Babson, before he turned aside three shots across town at Emerson on Saturday.

Balog, who catalogued all 180 minutes in net for the blue-and-gold in a two-goal week, is the second-straight Ram to collect CCC Defensive of the Wek as Nathan Harlow was award the same distinction Sept. 5, 2023. Throughout his career, Balog owns fourth CCC Defensive of the Week honors, all of which have been handed out by the CCC. There have been five CCC Defensive Players of the Week in the Rams' record book, four belong to Balog and the other Harlow holds.

Suffolk and Balog are back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 12 when they entertain Framingham State at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium under the lights at 7 p.m.
