HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Bears got the scoring going in the 11th minute. Chris Allen took the ball down the lower left side of the field and made a cross pass to an open Sean Lanzillo in the middle of the box. Lanzillo managed to tap the ball into the open goal to give WNE the 1-0 lead.
A Rams' response came 21 minutes later. Tommy Handelsman sent a ball into the box that found Brady Sorensen, who flicked the ball into the net to lock the game at 1-all.
Minutes after Suffolk's strike, WNE had a chance to regain the lead. Malik Serisser took a pass into the box and ripped a shot that rang the outside of the post to keep things even at 1-1.
That changed in the 55th minute as Lanzillo put away his second marker of the day. Roger Elland sent a pass to Lanzillo, who made no mistake tucking away the rock to put the Golden Bears in front, 2-1.
Suffolk would press to equalize the game once again. Brady Allen was tested for the first and only time on the game in the 73rd minute when Trevor Murdock fired a shot on target from just outside the box. Allen was up to the task to shut down the game-tying chance for the blue-and-gold.
