
BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer's Steven Lopez was named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week after producing a 1-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Lopez, a native of East Boston, Massachusetts, had a standout showing in his second-ever start against Norwich Wednesday, Oct. 25. The senior turned aside all 12 shots he faced to lock up his first-ever collegiate victory and backstop the blue-and-gold to its first triumph over the Cadets since 2011.
Overall, Lopez stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced in the two-game week, in which he put together an .882 save percentage across 135:00 minutes of action.
Lopez is the first Ram to be acknowledged the by the league with a weekly accolade this season and first since Tom Bennett's gloves were the best in the conference over a seven-day stretch Sept. 17, 2018.
Suffolk hits the road Wednesday, Oct. 2 when it visits Anna Maria. The midweek matchup is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kick off.
