BOSTON – Ram Nation will get its first glimpse of the 2019 edition of the Suffolk men's soccer team this Saturday, Sept. 7 when the blue-and-gold welcome Lesley to East Boston Memorial Park. First kick at James A. Sartori Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's soccer suffered a 4-2 setback to Eastern Nazarene after Charlie Swann netted a hat trick to propel the Lions past the Rams in non-conference action Wednesday night at Veterans Stadium.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk brings a 0-1-1 record into Saturday's showdown after tying Mass. Maritime, 1-1, and losing at Eastern Nazarene, 4-2. 

Simon Velez Angel has been responsible for the Rams scoring as the senior owns each of the blue-and-gold's three goals. He has received help on the tallies from Trevor MurdockChristian Restrepo and Emilio Tenacio. \ 

Tom Bennett has backstopped Suffolk in net in both outings. The sophomore sports a .722 save percentage with 13 stops to his credit and a 2.55 GAA.  

LYNX LOOK
Lesley, who is in the midst of a four-game season-opening road stretch, boasts an unblemished 2-0-0 record after defeating Regis (2-1) and Curry (1-0).  

Three different Lynx have score this season in Andrew Medeiros, Shane Rockenbach and Jack Wadleigh. Ben Heischuber owns the lone assist of Lesley's bunch. 

David Grutchfield has played every minute between the posts for the Lynx. In 14 shots face, he has turned aside 13 for a .929 save percentage and a 0.50 GAA. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2009, Suffolk is 2-7 versus Lesley. 
  • The Rams picked up the last meeting versus the Lynx, with a 4-1 decision October 22, 2017.
  • Overall, three contests have ended 1-0.

DOUBLEFEATURE
Suffolk's Saturday matinee with the Falcons serves as the first game of a Ram Nation doubleheader with the men's team, who entertains Lesley in Eastie at 3 p.m.  

Overall in 2019, Suffolk's men's and women's teams will play on the friendly confines of James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park on the same day three times – Sept. 7, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12. 

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk takes a break from midweek action to concentrate on its GNAC debut which is on the slate for Saturday, Sept. 14 when Albertus Magnus makes the trip to Eastie for a 3 p.m. battle.
