Senior Quartet Named 2019 Men’s Soccer Captains

BOSTON - For the second straight season, a core group of four Rams have been given leadership responsibilities of the Suffolk men's soccer in seniors Jarrett Davis, Jackson Hines, Christian Restrepo and Simon Velez Angel as the 2019 captains.

Davis is a veteran both on the squad and as a leader as he begins his third stint as captain, first, however, as a player on the pitch after back-to-back seasons sideliend. Hines will wear the 'C' for this second consecutive campaign while Restrepo and Velez Angel earned the status for the first time in their respective careers.

In 2016, Davis was instrumental to Rams' success. The GNAC Rookie of the Year and third-team all-league honoree that year, set-up Suffolk's scorers to lead the squad to the league's semifinals that season. Since then, the midfielder from Loudon, New Hampshire, has been benched due to injury and looks to make his name known once again as a senior.

Similar to Davis, Restrepo suffered a season-ending injury a year ago after having a third-team all-league campaign as a sophomore in 2017. He looks to pick up where he left off and increase his nine-goal, six-assist numbers.

Velez Angel was a staple in Suffolk's starting line-up a year ago making 12 appearances in the top 11 and put away three goals.

Hines will lead the way from the backfield once again. The cornerstone to the Rams' defensive unit, the Bristol, Connecticut, product has yet to miss one of Suffolk's games since joining the squad in 2016 and has started all, but one. . In his three campaigns with the blue-and-gold he has added to the offensive output as well with one marker nad three helpers.

Suffolk's season is just eight days away with first kick set for Saturday, Aug. 31 at Mass. Maritime. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
