Acosta Tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – In just his second full week of donning Suffolk blue-and-gold men's soccer's Leonardo Acosta has been recognized for his performance on the pitch as the GNAC Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Acosta is being rewarded for his career-high two-goal effort in the Rams' 3-1 GNAC opening win over Rivier Saturday, Sept. 8.

The award is the first of Acosta's short career and first time a member of Suffolk has been tabbed the conference's best rookie over a seven day stretch since 2016 GNAC Rookie of the Year Jarrett Davis garnered the honor twice in 2016.

Through four games this season, Acosta, who hails from Miami, Florida, is leading the way for the Rams with seven goals off three markers and one assist. His seven points rank fourth-most in the league, while his three goals are tied for second. Overall, Acosta has recorded at least one point in 75 percent (3-4) of Suffolk's game this year.

Acosta and the Rams look to continue their winning momentum as they head to the Granite State Tuesday, Sept. 11 for a clash with Colby Sawyer at 4 p.m.
