Men’s Soccer Secures Spot in GNAC Tournament as Eighth Seed

BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in the GNAC Tournament as the conference announced the bracket with the Rams taking the No. 8 seed.

The Rams fourth consecutive league tourney trip marks the 17th overall time Suffolk will vie for the conference crown since joining the GNAC ranks in 1999. The blue-and-gold will compete as the eighth seed for the third time. The Rams look for their first victory in the tournament as the eighth seed.

To open tourney action, Suffolk will trek to regular season champion and defending GNAC Champ Saint Joseph's (Maine) Sunday, Oct. 29 for a quarterfinals showdown.

The Rams and Monks will meet for the third time in the playoffs, while Suffolk looks to bounce back from the regular season battle, which St. Joe's won, 5-0, Sept. 30 in Eastie. SJC owns both victories over the Rams in postseason play, taking the first meeting in the quarterfinals in 2011, 3-0, and stopping Suffolk last season in the semis, 5-1.

SJC locked up the top seed after posting an unbeaten league ledger for the second straight season. The Monks put together a 9-0-1 conference mark this fall with its lone draw coming at the hands of Norwich, who takes the third seed into tournament play.

Suffolk, meanwhile, had an up-and-down season and went 4-5-1 versus conference counterparts to take the eighth seed.

Prior to first kick in Standish, Maine, the Rams wrap up regular season action in front of their home crowd at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Tuesday, Oct. 24 versus Framingham State. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
