CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A goal scored by Tucker Mee with just under six minutes to play in regulation was the difference in the non-conference contest as the Suffolk men's soccer team bested MIT, 1-0, Wednesday night at Roberts Field at Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Game was scoreless until there was less than 10 minutes to play despite both teams having excellent opportunities. Mee took a low cross from Felipe Ucros in front of the net and buried his shot inside the left corner to give the Rams the 1-0 edge. 

MIT had its best scoring chance of the opening stanza just 14:35 into the contest when the Engineers fired three shots on target, but all opportunities were saved by Suffolk starter Kyle Van Cleef. Logan McLaughlin had two of those shots, while freshman Jack Snowdon took the other one. 

In the second half, MIT once again tried to find the go-ahead goal, but one chance was called offside after the ball was already in the net and the other was shot off of one of MIT's own players and bounced away from the net. 

With 9:55 left in the game, Suffolk had the final chance before the Rams found the lone goal as James Fisher shot the ball towards the net and it was saved by MIT keeper Jeremy Cowham. Fisher's shot rebounded right to his feet and he tried to chip it over Cowham's head, but MIT freshman Aaaron Makikalli cleared the ball with his head at the goal line in front of an empty net. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Jon Brodeur, who came off the bench to play the entire second half, earned the win for the Rams to move to 2-1-0 this fall.
• Van Cleef made four saves through the first 45 minutes of action.
• Cowham stopped the ball three times in between the pipes for the Engineers. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• MIT outshot Suffolk by a 14-11 margin, while both teams took four corner kicks. 

NOTEABLES

• Suffolk defeated MIT for the first time in the all-time series, which dates back to 1984.
• Mee recorded his first collegiate point in the victory.
• The cleansheer is the first for Brodeur in 2017 and fifth throughout his collegiate career.
