Fisher Garners GNAC Corvias Player of the Week Honors

BOSTON – For the second straight week, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Corvias Men's Soccer Player of the Week hails from Suffolk University as sophomore James Fisher earned the distinction after the Rams' shutout Mt. Ida, 3-0, Saturday, the league office announced Monday afternoon. #RamNation #TheGNAC

Fisher put away two goals within 28 seconds of one another to stretch the Rams' advantage of the Mustangs to three markers. With Suffolk ahead by one, Fisher got in on the scoring action on a breakaway. The Longmeadow, Massachsuetts, native deked Mustangs netminder Riley Ford to make it a 2-0 Suffolk ball game in the 64th minute.  Twenty-eight seconds later, again on a breakaway, the forward beat Ford once against, this time to the right, and snuck the ball to the lower left to push the Ram's to 3-0.

The conference weekly accolade, which is a first for Fisher, marks the second for Suffolk this season following Christian Restrepo's nod as the conference's best player over a seven day stretch last week.

Suffolk takes its 3-2-0 overall record and 1-1-0 league ledger to Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Sept. 20 for a 4 p.m. midweek match.
