BOSTON – After going 1-1 over Labor Day Weekend to open the season, the Suffolk men's soccer team hits the road for the first time in 2017 as it travels across town Wednesday, Sept. 6 to tangle with Emerson. First kick at Rotch Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
On a rainy Sunday at James A. Sartori Stadium, Suffolk suffered its first setback of the 2017 slate as Framingham State took down the hosts Rams, 3-2.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk sits 1-1 for the first time since opening 2012, 3-0. 

Four different Rams are responsible for Suffolk's quartet of goals on the young campaign with James Fisher, Sal Perrotto, Christian Restrepo and Felipe Ucros each finding the back of the netting. Restrepo leads the way in points as the sophomore forward also set up one marker to boast three points. Jordan Casey also picked up one point over the weekend with one assist.

In net, Kyle Van Cleef has stood tall for the Rams. The junior captain has seen every minute of action in between the pipes, allowing four goals for a 2.00 goals against average to go along with a .800 save percentage.

LIONS LOOKOUT
Emerson took Curry to double overtime in its season opener with neither team capitalizing on the extra time to end in a 0-0 stalemate. A day later, the Lions faced GNAC counterpart Emmanuel and secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Saints.

Warren Backman is responsible for Emerson's lone goal of the year with Max DeLuca and Niko Emack-Bazelais each owning one assist to their credit.

Lucas Fisher and David Kemp have each seen action in net for the Lions. Kemp saw the most minutes and brings in a 0.82 goals-against average and .500 save percentage into Wednesday's action. Fischer, meanwhile, has not a ball past him through nearly 90 minutes of time on the pitch.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk and Emerson renew a yearly rivalry Wednesday after taking the 2016 season off from competition versus one another. A former GNAC member, the Rams met the Lions every year from 1998 through 2015 (*2001 season results are missing). The all-time series did start earlier, however, in 1994 with a 5-0 Suffolk shutout over Emerson. Since then, the Lions have commanded the series, which the blue-and-gold trails, 7-14.

Suffolk and Emerson needed overtime once in their 21 meetings to decide a winner with the Lions coming out on top. Eight contests were also shutouts throughout the series with Emerson once again holding the edge, 6-2.
