Men’s Soccer Heads into GNAC Postseason as Fourth Seed

BOSTON – Thanks to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Rivier Saturday, the Suffolk men's soccer team will enter the 2016 GNAC Postseason as the fourth seed, the league office announced Sunday morning.

Suffolk will be making its third consecutive trip to the conference tournament and host the quarterfinals for the first time since 2010 thanks to a 6-3 league ledger, which is the most conference wins in a regular season for the Rams since joining the GNAC in 1999.

The Rams will host fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. at the friendly confines of James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. Suffolk traveled to the Falcons during the regular season on Sept. 10 and thanks to a game-winner from Alberto Bittan, won the contest, 1-0.

Thanks to a 4-4-1 mark against conference opponents, Albertus Magnus took the fifth seed. The Falcons, who dropped their conference finale at Norwich, 1-0, will prep for the Saturday showdown with Suffolk with a non-conference contest at MCLA Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Prior to hosting Albertus Magnus Saturday, Oct. 29, the Rams will wrap up their 2016 regular season at Dean Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. The winner of the Rams/Falcons meeting Saturday will advance to the semifinals Tuesday, Nov. 1 and face the victor of #1 Saint Joseph's (Maine)/#8 Mount Ida. The remaining two teams will take the championship field Saturday, Nov. 5.
