
EAST BOSTON - The Suffolk men's soccer team topped Anna Maria by a 5-1 margin on Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jarrett Davis tallied a career-high four assists in the victory bringing his team-leading total to eight. Alberto Bittan continued to pour in the goals as he netted a pair bringing his season total to 14, the most among GNAC scorers. Bittan has now scored multiple goals in five contests this season. Christian Restrepo netted a pair of second half goals to extend Suffolk's lead after taking a 3-1 score into the half with them. Aaron Haggas put Suffolk in the lead for good when he converted on a penalty kick in the game's 24th minute for his fifth tally of the year.
Christopher Mattioli scored Anna Maria's lone goal in the game's 16th minute when he took a feed from Derrick Casey. Mattioli's goal was his seventh on the year, the most among AMCATS scorers.
GOALS
- Davis sent in a free kick from the 35-yard and Bittan used his head to tally his 13th goal of the season.
- Anna Maria's lone goal of the contest came at 16:53. Christopher Mattioli tucked away his seventh goal of the season on a feed from Derrick Casey.
- For the third time this season Haggas found himself taking a penalty kick and the senior kept his and Suffolk's percentage perfect, to break the tie and put the lead in for good in teh 25th minute. On a breakaway, Jordan Casey was tripped up by the goal to earn the PK.
- Four minutes later, Bittan struck again thanks to another set up by Davis. Davis beat the AMCAT's netminder and Bittan finished his 14th goal of the year.
- Just over 10 minutes into the second stanza, Restrepo easily netted his second goal of the season after he beat the defender off the dribble. Davis had a hand in the score.
- Restrepo put away Suffolk's final goal of the day in the 73rd minutes thank againt to another assist by Davis.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Jon Brodeur made five saves in goal before giving way to David Haines who finished out the final 10 minutes of the contest.
- Jonathan Alicea finished a busy day in net for the AMCATS facing 14 shots on goal. Alicea made nine saves.
NOTEABLES
- Suffolk moved to 5-1 against the AMCATS since 2011.
- GNAC Leaders: Bittan leads the league in goals (14) and points (32), while Davis leads the conference in assists (8).
- The victory marked Suffolk's seventh of the year the most wins for the blue and gold in a single season since matching that number in 2012 (7-10-1).
Suffolk heads to Springfield Monday, Oct. 17 for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
