Van Cleef Tabbed GNAC Corvias Goalie of the Week

BOSTON – For the second straight week a member of the Suffolk men's soccer team was honored by the conference as sophomore keeper Kyle Van Cleef was named GNAC Corvias Goalie of the Week following a shutout performance in the Rams' league opener.

Van Cleef was the backstop in Suffolk's 1-0 triumph at Albertus Magnus. The Sandwich, Massachusetts product made four stops en route to not only his first win of the year, but also his first shutout as a Ram. The cleansheet marks the first for the blue-and-gold since Suffolk kept an opponent scoreless in a 2-0 win versus Johnson & Wales Sept. 27, 2014. Suffolk also earned its conference opener victory for the first time since 2012, when it shutout Anna Maria, 9-0.

The weekly award marks the second for the Rams this season as Alberto Bittan, who knocked in the game-winner Saturday versus the Falcons, earned the first player of the week nod of the season Sept. 5.

Van Cleef and the Rams return to action tonight as they host Lesley under the lights of James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
